General Position Description:

The Community Relations Coordinator assists the Regional Director develop and implement strategies to fulfill objectives of CJC-PR and CJCCC-PR in the areas of community relations, communications assistance, education, and advocacy.

The CRC works with CJC-PR standing committees and working groups, while maintaining regular communications with Jewish organizations as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Regional Director, the Communication Relations Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

• Leadership in developing and overseeing the implementation of projects, including inter-faith and inter-cultural activities;

• Research and preparation of materials on issues relating to public policy in BC;

• Assist in the planning and coordination of meetings, conferences, and public forums;

• Respond to incidents of antisemitism

• Organize the annual Holocaust Commemoration event in Victoria;

• Work closely with the Vancouver Police Department and the RCMP on issues related to hate crimes;

• Manage CJCPR committees and programs and assist in liaising with the Board of Directors

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2-3 years experience in a not for profit organization or public sector environment;

• A post-secondary university degree;

• Knowledge and understanding of Jewish community;

• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;

• Ability to work flexible hours;

• Experience working with volunteers and in a team environment.

This position is located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Leadership Program Supervisor/Instructor  - Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver

Title of the position: EIDAN Coordinator

Reports To: Debbie Tabenkin – JCC Program Director

Hours: 8 hours/ week, Sundays 2 – 7pm plus 2 hours prep time

Wage: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience and expertise

Overall Responsibility:

• Supervise the Sunday EIDAN Youth Program

• Teacher for the School of Madrichim - responsible for the planning and implementation of all School of Madrichim classes, activities and outings.

• Ensure the Madrichim are well supported, guided, mentored, and prepared to implement activities for children on a weekly basis

• Liaise with Assistant Youth Coordinator

• Inspire and infuse enthusiasm to all participants of EIDAN.

• Staff, set meetings and set agenda for the EIDAN committee Responsibilities November 15, 2009 – June 29, 2010

• Teach each EIDAN School of Madrichim class Sundays 4:30pm – 6:00pm

• Communicate clearly with Madrichim and parents of participants

• Responsible for ordering supplies and preparing class materials as needed within budget

• Plan and participate in all School of Madrichim retreats (3 camping trips, and 2 outings).

• Create an inspiring, fun, thoughtful, creative, spontaneous, interesting and challenging environment for Madrichim and Chanichim (kids)

• Knowledge of Jewish culture and the ability to lead culturally appropriate programs

• Be the best positive role model to the Madrichim in training and lead by example

• Stay true to the EIDAN mission

Database Coordinator

Shalom BC is seeking a database coordinator to update and maintain our databases and website.

This position will be reporting to the Executive Director, providing support to the Executive Director and other internal/external customers that are in need for accurate information stored in our data bases.

The position requires a high level of accuracy and excellent computer skills, understanding of relational databases and web design (asp .net, CSS, graphic design).

Responsibilities include: updating several databases, maintaining the website, producing reports, performing routine maintenance.

Knowledge of File Maker programming is an asset.

Familiarity with the Jewish community structure and organizations is preferred.

This is a part time position: three days a week, four hours a day, for a total of 12 hours a week.
