Frequently Asked Questions
I am in Canada on a visitor's visa. Can I volunteer ?
Most temporary residents meet the requirements for volunteering while they are in Canada.
However, as the laws are constantly changing, please refer to the website for the most current
legal information. (click here to view document)
What is the
minimum age for children to volunteer alone?
We require all volunteers to be 14
years of age if not volunteering with an adult.
We will be very happy to accept younger volunteers, if accompanied by an
adult or for a family opportunity. Some agencies may
have their own age restrictions.
Who will have access to my registration information ?
The Volunteer Centre will not give
out your information without your permission.
When you express interest in a particular opportunity, we ask if we can give
your contact information in order for you to speak directly with the agency
seeking volunteers.
How can I participate if I do not find an opportunity to match my skills ?
If you have special skills and
interests that you would like to utilize, we will endeavour to create an
opportunity for you. Some examples would be speaking to a
group of seniors at the JCC; mentoring a
newcomer family; writing articles and newsletters; event planning; etc.

graduation requirements both in the Jewish and general communities.
