My Personal Life (edited by Judy Stern)

I was born and grew up in South Africa . I lived in a suburb of Johannesburg . I was born profoundly deaf from the German measles. I attended King David School . I had a difficult time to understand the teacher as everyone else in the class could hear. So I transferred to another school called St Vincent School for the Deaf which was easier for me and I learned South African sign language. In 1988 I went to the Art Foundation College for graphic design for one year. We did everything by hand as there were no computers at that time. I had been working at various graphic design jobs from 1995 ¨C 2000.

People who share a common direction and a sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are travelling on the thrust of one another.

Volunteer Coordinator Intergenerational Landed Learning Project at the UBC Farm

The children have had so much fun growing their own food and eating the food they grow. The relationships that are formed are priceless.
