Shalom BC Information & Referral & Welcome Service
If you are computer literate, enjoy meeting people, answering enquiries,
researching information, welcoming newcomers and would enjoy being a part of the
Shalom BC team, we can offer you morning or afternoon shifts from Monday to
Friday. Minimum: 2 shifts per month.
Community Kollel - Circle of Friends
Assistant required for special needs children's program alternate Sundays from
12.00 - 4.30. Varied program which includes swimming, trips to Science World,
etc. OR volunteer for one-on-one home visits week day afternoons or evenings -
suitable for students of any age. OR volunteer to help out at exciting special
events.
Ahavat Olam Synagogue
Assist with "Feed the Hungry" - a joint Moslem/Jewish project for the Downtown
Eastside held once a month.
Jewish Museum & Archives of BC
Front Desk volunteers and Education Docents to commit to at least one morning or
afternoon shift per week. Special request for people who can be 'on call' and to
fill regular Sunday shifts. Ongoing training and free coffee are provided.
JCC Preschool/Daycare
Help required with childcare programs twice a week. Great opportunity to gain
experience in early childhood education.
JFGV
On call receptionist required.
JCC Children's Department
Participate in children's programs at the JCC - Mon. to Fri. daytime, some
Sundays.
Coast Mental Health - Bridge to Recovery
Coast's Yaffa House is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated
volunteers to work with the Jewish clients in a variety of positions, including
socialization, recreation, outings, etc.
Louis Brier Home & Hospital and the Weinberg Residence
Various opportunities including: assisting in the Gift Shop; assisting the Louis
Brier Jewish Aged Foundation with fundraising projects; accompanying residents
(on our bus) for shopping trips and lunch outings; assisting with special events
(birthdays and holiday celebrations). Responsible and reliable person reqired
for weekly shopping trips for L.B. residents to assist with taking them on and
off the bus and to manage wheelchairs. Mondays from 1.15 - 3.30 pm.
Isaac Waldman Jewish Public Library
Learn new skills, meet new people! Computer literate volunteers required to work
with the public and on library projects.
