information service concerns itself mainly with Jewish topics.
Our job is not only to be information providers, but also to be tolerant
and sympathetic listeners, expressing our willingness to put people in touch with
the right services.
Jewish
Information Services and Volunteer Centres may be found in other communities including
San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York, Montreal,
Miami,
Detroit,
Cleveland,
Baltimore
and
Toronto. Vancouver
is unique in that it is autonomous, with its own governance.Our service is located at the Jewish Community Centre.
We have many more walk-in contacts because of our visible profile.
Community
agencies looking for volunteers with special skills can now approach the Volunteer
Centre, which will search its computer database for appropriate individuals.
